What a busy year the marketing & BD team have had in the run
up to exhibiting at DSEI, EDS and as Principal Sponsor at the International
Institute Obsolescence Management Conference and Exhibition.
In September we took to the stand at London’s Excel Arena in the
ADS Pavilion amongst the Defence hustle and bustle, for the World’s largest
defence and aerospace event to discuss CMCA (UK)’s core capabilities in NATO
Codification, Obsolescence Management, Procurement Solutions and Long Term
Storage services. We had the pleasure of hosting James Clare – Director at UK
Ministry of Defence for Climate Change and Sustainability providing an
opportunity to discuss how obsolescence influences sustainability objectives.
In October the team was literally sent to Coventry! But on this
occasion, it was to attend the Engineering Design Show, the UK’s only event
entirely dedicated to engineering, electronics and embedded design. As it
turned out we ‘weren’t sent to Coventry’ being provided with the opportunity to
discuss all aspects of the business with a considerable number of visitors to
our stand.
At the end of October CMCA(UK) was Principal Sponsor of the
2023 IIOM International Conference. We couldn’t believe that it’s ten years
since we last took the lead as Principal Sponsor. In the intervening period we
have seen IIOM evolve from those early days as COG to the International
presence which has now been established with Chapters in Germany, France, India
and the USA and we were proud to confirm that in that time CMCA(UK) has more
than tripled in size, but our core capabilities remain focused on Codification,
Procurement and Obsolescence Management.
With IEC62402 increasing in awareness and whilst continuing
to work closely with IIOM we’ve seen a surge in those interested in learning
about Obsolescence Management. In addition, Obsolescence as a topic within the
context of supportability and sustainability has grown exponentially and we
enjoyed discussions at the conference on how we can collaboratively develop an approach
and policy to support a world where resources and material will need to be
adapted. There are immense global challenges ahead, many driven by climate
change, which will drive innovation and new technology. In response, effective
Obsolescence Management won’t just be needed, it will be critical for a future
which will look very different to today’s world.
