With initial planning related to attendance in Cardiff ( the location for DPRTE the last few years), we needed to make swift alterations to accommodate a location change where the event was then planned for the Birmingham NEC and subsequently a further change with the 3rd and final location being confirmed for Farnborough. It is fair to say therefore, that a hint of trepidation and concern was in the air as the CMCA(UK) team travelled down to the Exhibition and Conference Centre for this year’s DPRTE.
However, we are very happy to confirm that our fears were unfounded, as CMCA(UK) and DPRTE enjoyed one of busiest shows in some years, with the Farnborough location ticking all of the boxes, for security, facilities and location. Occupying Stand 37 overlooking the engagement village, this CMCA(UK) location proved to be an ideal position to promote our activities, whilst also providing a facility to interact with some of our existing customers and key suppliers. CMCA(UK)’s Head of Procurement Kevin Buck and Business Development Manager Antony Elliott were on stand duty, supported by representatives from our NATO Codification partners, Alan Glover and Lara McGrath from UKNCB Glasgow. Engaging with the many visitors to the stand, we were able to discuss and where necessary provide support on everything from Codification & Obsolescence through to Procurement & Technical Services. We do however have to accept that perhaps the reason for so many visitors to our stand might have been the giant Thornton’s Easter Egg which did draw considerable attention, either way, an excellent day and after all of the disruption with the confirmed location, we hope that Farnborough will now be selected as the permanent home for the UK’s leading Defence Procurement and Supply Chain event.
