7th International COG Conference
CMCA(UK) are pleased to announce that they have attended, and contributed towards, another successful International COG (Components Obsolescence Group) conference. This year, the event was held between 28th and 30th June in York, UK.
During the event, Chris Green, CMCA(UK)’s Obsolescence Services Manager, delivered a paper during the (very well received) workshop, and Nigel Wallis, Obsolescence Advisor, delivered a presentation to the conference itself. This year the theme was the “Economics of Obsolescence”, which was very appropriate given the current financial climate. COG and CMCA(UK) have always championed the “spend to save”, pro-active approach to obsolescence management, which is especially beneficial when there is an increased focus on reducing costs. Both of CMCA(UK)’s papers, and indeed several others given at the conference, reinforced this view.
In addition to the conference and workshop, there was an accompanying exhibition at which CMCA(UK) had a stand. CMCA(UK) received a significant amount of interest from potential customers, notably from the oil and gas markets. Other interested parties included clients from the railway, aerospace, defence and computer industries - many of which were based outside of the UK. This demonstrates once again that CMCA(UK)’s bespoke solutions are of interest to a diverse range of industries, and on an international level.
There was also a great opportunity to meet up with some existing CMCA(UK) customers who were in attendance, and full use was made of coffee breaks by having brief business reviews!
The main networking event was once again the “Gala Dinner”, and this year it was held in the National Railway Museum. The evening was themed as a “casino night”, and CMCA(UK) sponsored one of the casino tables. These provided a great deal of amusement: fortunately it was only pretend money, so no one lost their shirt!
All in all, it was a very successful conference, and CMCA(UK) are looking forward to working more closely with their new business partners, as well as continuing to provide an excellent service for their existing ones, now and in the future.

This relocation was necessitated by business expansion, and CMCA(UK) would like to take this opportunity to thank their customers for their continuing custom. The new premises ensure that CMCA(UK) will be able to continue to provide their usual excellent level of service to their customers, both now and in the future.
